Formation Process of LDS
The Lutheran Development Service in Liberia is a semi-autonomous Lutheran Church-related non-governmental organization which has been mandated to provide humanitarian and development services to people in need irrespective of tribes, religion, race, affiliation, etc, etc, in collaboration with the Liberian Government through relevant ministries/agencies and other actors. It was established and accredited by the Ministry of Planning on January 15, 2002. As envisaged by the Lutheran World Federation/Department for World Service (LWF/DWS) and the Lutheran Church in Liberia through a Memorandum of Understanding, (MoU) signed in 1991,
LDS took over the humanitarian and development activities of LWF/DWS – Liberia Program on July 1,2010.
LDS has a board of directors comprising of 7 members including 3 men and 4 women. The board meets every quarter in the year.
Presently, LDS has a total staff of 28 persons to include 21 men and 7 females.
There is a Management Team comprising of 4 persons including the Executive Director, Program Officer, the Finance Officer and the Human Resource Officer in place for the Lutheran Development Service in Liberia. They are all well qualified, experienced and competent people. The Executive Director holds a Master degree in Management from the Cuttington University; the Finance Officer holds a Master degree in Finance also from Cuttington University. The Program Officer has a bachelor degree in Management from the University of Liberia and the Human Resource Officer has a bachelor degree in Management from the University of Liberia. They all have vast experiences in various places of work.

The vision of the Lutheran Development Service in Liberia (LDS) is the Diakonia arm of the Lutheran Church in Liberia (LCL) positively contributing to peaceful, sustainable communities
in Liberia through provision of high quality rights based development, empowerment and relief programs.
MISSION OF LDS
The Lutheran Development Service in Liberia seeks to provide opportunities for improvement of the potential of the vulnerable, irrespective of tribe, religions, etc, etc through community empowerment initiatives and relief assistance for the promotion of sustainable livelihoods.
GOAL OF LDS
The goal of the Lutheran Development Service is to contribute to the empowerment of communities for sustainable development initiatives leading to improved quality of lives of people.
